Fabrizio Portanti 於1963年生於意大利製琴聖地 Cremona，1981年畢業於 Cremona 國際製琴學校（Cremona International Violin Making School），師承名師 Wanna Zambelli。畢業後，他在製琴大師 Gio Batta Morassi 的工作室深造五年，精進技藝，發展個人風格。

1991年首次參加享負盛名的 Triennial 國際製琴大賽，即以個人作品一舉奪得銀獎。1994年更榮獲莫斯科柴可夫斯基國際比賽小提琴組金牌，確立其在當代 Cremona 製琴師中的卓越地位。其工作室位於 Cremona Via Aselli 37，作品深受 Cremona 傳統琴型啟發，並在此基礎上發展出獨特個人風格，製作小提琴、中提琴及大提琴。

此琴製於1999年，正值 Portanti 創作生涯的黃金盛年。琴齡逾25年，保存完好，且長期處於演奏狀態——經年累月的振動令木材充分「開聲」，各弦音色更趨均衡穩定，共鳴深遠豐潤，泛音層次豐富，投射力出色。

Born in 1963 in Cremona — the world capital of violin making — Fabrizio Portanti graduated from the Cremona International Violin Making School in 1981 under the tutelage of master luthier Wanna Zambelli. He subsequently spent five years refining his craft in the workshop of the renowned Gio Batta Morassi.

In 1991, Portanti entered the prestigious Triennial competition for the first time and was awarded a Silver Medal. In 1994, he received the Gold Medal at the Moscow Tchaikovsky International Competition in the violin category — cementing his reputation as one of the foremost contemporary luthiers of Cremona. His atelier is located at Via Aselli 37, Cremona, where he continues to create violins, violas, and cellos inspired by the great Cremonese tradition.

This violin was made in 1999, during the prime of Portanti's creative career. Now over 25 years old, it has been exceptionally well-preserved and kept in active playing condition throughout its life. Years of regular playing have allowed the tonewoods to fully open up — the result is a voice that is remarkably balanced across all strings, with stable, even resonance, rich overtones, and excellent projection.
